Thunder Bay Airport advises passengers, visitors, and airport partners that construction related to modifications in the main parking lot will begin in June 2026 and is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.
The project includes relocating the existing parking lot exits and decommissioning a portion of the current parking area. These changes will help support future development opportunities.
To support this development and accommodate future growth, the airport completed a parking lot expansion last year that added additional capacity and improved overall traffic flow.
During construction, a portion of the existing parking lot will be closed and clearly marked.
Motorists are asked to follow all posted signage and avoid parking in areas designated as closed or restricted. Vehicles parked in restricted areas may be relocated to support construction activity and maintain safe access through the site.
Temporary traffic control measures and directional signage will be in place to guide motorists through the parking lot. Parking access will remain available throughout construction.
Once the project is complete, the existing parking lot exits will be permanently decommissioned, and all traffic will be directed through the new exit configuration.
Thunder Bay Airport thanks passengers, visitors, airport partners, and the public for their patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
