Thunder Bay International Airport, in partnership with Confederation College is excited to invite girls and young women across Northwestern Ontario to Girls in Aviation Day, taking place on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 10:00AM to 3:00PM at Confederation College’s ACE Building.
This engaging and interactive event is designed to inspire young women ages 8-18 to explore the many exciting career opportunities in aviation. Through hands-on experiences and meaningful connections, participants will gain insight into the diverse roles that make up the aviation industry.
Throughout the day, attendees will enjoy a variety of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)-based activities, hear from inspiring guest speakers, meet women working in a wide range of aviation careers, and participate in interactive experiences that showcase the many opportunities available within the aviation industry.
“Girls in Aviation Day is about inspiring curiosity, building confidence, and showing young women that there are countless opportunities to pursue exciting careers in aviation and aerospace,” said Jackie MacDonald, Director of Business Development & Revenue Management at Thunder Bay International Airport Authority. “Whether you’re interested in flying, engineering, technology, emergency services, airport operations, or skilled trades, there’s a place for you in this industry. Girls in Aviation Day is made possible through the support of local aviation partners, industry organizations, and volunteers who are passionate about encouraging young women to explore careers in STEM.
